Just a quick one today.
I have a new hat.
I’m not really a hat girl but I’m anticipating some morning walks, so I wanted a little protection for my fragile silver hair and scalp. Hats usually make me hot but I was thinking the mesh on this may be a saving grace.
Happy to say, after my first walk wearing it today with The Husband, it did seem to keep my head cool. And the lanyard, which I originally thought I’d have to stuff up under the crown because I didn’t want to look like a cowboy, actually came in handy during a few little gusty breezes.
It’s also quite versatile, so if I’m suddenly feelin’ the Aussie vibe, snap snap!
How about you all? Hats, yes or no?!

Writing has always been in my DNA. Lately, though, I’ve let my writing lapse and as I’m getting to that point when I have fewer birthdays in my future than I’ve had in my past, I need to get writing and this blog will help prime the pump. That being said, I’ve never been someone who could settle on one specialty. When I made jewelry, I dabbled in beads, wire, charms -- necklaces, bracelets, earrings -- jewel tones, pastels, metals. And so it goes with writing. It’s not in my nature to make this blog about anything in particular. To quote Forrest Gump, “You never know what you’re gonna get.” A review one day, a rant the next -- travel logs, general observations -- things that make me crazy and things that keep me sane. Thanks for participating in this grand scheme to get Gray Mare writing as fast as she can!

Oh YES to the hat! I’m a hat girl. I love the warm head in the cold New England winters.
