I mentioned Part One of our car donation saga in the blog last Thursday. I’ll let you know how it went this coming Thursday.
Until then, here is The Husband’s Ode to his VW bus, which we owned for 31 years.
Wacko
A big goodbye hug for my good friend and mode of transportation, a 1979 Volkswagen bus named Wacko. Here are some of our adventures.

Wacko and I waiting at a crosswalk ~ a pedestrian pulls out his keys and displays a keyring with a VW logo. He wanted to show us that he was family.
Wacko had the fortitude to haul around my school show, Follow the Gold, a play that I wrote and produced, yet again proving he was worth his weight in gold. Wacko served as the landmark for the other actors to find us at the school. He showed what a team we were!
Wacko and I were in a TV commercial together. I was hired as an extra but when the director saw my bus buddy, they put him in front of the camera, too.
Speaking of special, Wacko is a rare breed of VW bus that has an automatic transmission. The Wife calls him a Unicorn.

We couldn’t go anywhere without someone calling out to Wacko. He is something special, not just a vehicle…
He’s a Unicorn.
I miss him already.
Great picture, great history!🌞♥️😁 🪲
